Actors Josh Charles and Michael Ian Black will both be in the upcoming Netflix series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. Black will reprise his role from the 2001 movie as McKinley and Charles will play a new character named Blake, a snobby counselor at the rival Camp Tiger Claw.
While the two actors are going to camp together for the first time on screen, they were both at the prestigious theatre camp Stagedoor Manor at the same time in the mid-’80s.
“I went to camp with Michael Ian Black,” Charles said in a recent interview with USA Today. “I wasn’t a showoff. I wasn’t super shy either. I was somewhere in the middle.”
Black said Charles was quite the ladies man when he was a camper.
“Josh was the big camp heartthrob despite his nose,” Black said.
Charles and Black aren’t shy about their camp connection. They’ve both referenced their time at camp in tweets, which you can read embedded below.
