Adam-12 – Camp

This two-part episode of ’70s police drama Adam-12 tells the story of a 14-year-old boy named Greg who gets in trouble and ends up going to a police-sponsored week-long summer camp, where he struggles to make friends and shed his bad-boy image. The first part of the episode is mainly a set-up for the character – the summer camp doesn’t come in until the second part.

There, Officer Pete Malloy befriends Greg, who is smaller than the other guys his age, and tries to get him to discover his true potential. The episode guest stars Olympic pole vaulter Bob Seagren in the role as sports counselor and but for one sidebar about a woman with a snake, is set entirely at the Los Angeles Youth Camp, which despite sounding like a juvenile detention center and its institutional architecture is a place boys go to by choice.

Part 2 of the episode debuted on Oct. 1, 1974.
