‘Beauty & the Beast’ star attended summer camp for 13 years

Actor Austin Basis, who stars as college professor J.T. Forbes in The CW show Beauty & the Beast, is a proud alumnus of Camp Monroe who attended the New York camp for 14 summers.

“I acted in the plays EVERY summer- we did Little Shop of Horrors, Bye-Bye Birdie, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, Free to Be You & Me, Guys & Dolls, among others. ‘HAPPYLAND’ was a GREAT place to grow up and is where I got started & caught the ‘acting bug,'” Austin wrote in a 2012 Facebook post.

Basis made his television debut on a Law & Order: Criminal Intent episode in 2004 and landed his first starring role as Math Rogers in the critically-acclaimed and canceled-too-soon CW series Life Unexpected. He’s had minor roles in movies like J. Edgar, The Things We Carry and American Zombie.
