Chipwich Commercial

A question on Twitter today posed by @413Camp got me thinking about chipwiches and how crucial they were and still are on those hot summer afternoons at camp. The question posed was “what advice to you give to a new camp store manager?” My advice: stock up on chipwiches. Or else there might be a protest.

Though it seems like such an obvious thing – putting ice cream between two cookies – the invention of the actual name brand Chipwich is credited to a man named Richard LaMotta who sold the brand to CoolBrands in 2002, which then sold it to a division of Nestle five years later, according to Wikipedia. The Chipwich brand is no longer in production, but its legacy lives on. What else would you call ice cream between two cookies, but a Chipwich?
