‘Dead of Summer’ TV series to premiere June 28

Freeform summer camp horror series Dead of Summer will make its debut on the small screen on June 28, at 9 p.m. on the cable channel formerly known as ABC Family.

The pilot for the series will be titled “Like a Prayer” and will include a campfire as evidenced by the first still that’s been released.

Camp Stillwater (called Camp Clearwater in the initial series announcement) campers played by Mark Indelicato, Amber Coney, Paulina Singer, Elizabeth Lail, Ronen Rubinstein and Zachary Gordon are pictured in the still.

The official description of the series, which also stars Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), Zelda Williams (Teen Wolf), Alberto Frezza (Charlie’s Angels) and Eli Goree (The 100):

“Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses—and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
