Divorce proceedings break down over sleepaway camp in Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce

As the name of the show suggests, Bravo drama Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce is a trashy show about a woman named Abby (Lisa Edestein) going through a divorce.

One of the sticking points in finalizing the divorce with Abby’s husband Jake (Paul Adelstein) is sleepaway camp, as we learn in a sneak peek of the episode “Rule #92: Don’t Do the Crime If You Can’t Do the Time” (Season 1, Episode 12).

In the sneak peek, Abby and Jake are in a meeting with their attorneys trying to finalize the terms of the divorce when Abby brings up sleepaway camp.

“It’s a dealbreaker for me,” Abby says. “My experiences at camp were very formative; they made me who I am.”

What’s there to disagree about summer camp?

Jake doesn’t want the kids going away for eight weeks because it cuts into his time with him. He suggests a compromise of four weeks, but Camp Pontiac is eight weeks so Abby won’t budge.

Camp Pontiac is the name of a real camp in New York, but it’s not clear if it’s being used in a fictional sense here or not.

You can watch the clip below, but be warned, things get a little crude. Update: It turns out Abby was a Color War captain at Camp Pontiac as she mentions in another scene in the episode.
