Spiked Bug Juice: Camp Busted for Underage Drinking

File this one under what not to do when you are an owner/director of a summer camp to celebrate the end of the summer season.

From the Bangor Daily News:

Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies broke up an alleged underage drinking party last Friday night at Camp Waziyatah, a summer camp for children ages 7-17. Three were arrested, including the brothers who serve as owners and directors.

Gregg M. Parker, 46, of Boston, Mass., and Mitchell G. Parker, 50, of Miami, Fla., were each arrested on charges of furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol. Deputy Matthew Noyes said an informant told him the Parkers had hosted the party as an “end-of-the-year” party for counselors, who were under 21. He said the children who attended the camp had all gone home to their families.

If the name Camp Waziyatah rings a bell, it was because the camp was featured in the first season of the late ’90s Disney Channel reality series Bug Juice.

The end-of-the-year beer party was reportedly an annual tradition at the camp.

UPDATE: Charges against the camp owners were dismissed on June 14, 2013.
