Experimental folk band The Tourist Company met at summer camp

Vancouver-based experimental folk band The Tourist Company started out in 2013 as a group of camp friends playing folk tunes.

Three members of the band, which has toured extensively in British Columbia and Alberta on the strength of their Space Race EP, met while working at Keats Camps in West Vancouver in the summer of 2010.

Taylor Swindells, Jillian Levey and Brenon Parry made up the original trio and bass player Josué Quezada joined in the summer of 2013, according to a 2014 interview.

The band hasn’t lost sight of its roots. They lent one of their songs, “One Giant Leap” to Keats Camps’ Summer 2015 promo video. Check it out below. The band has a full-length debut due out in 2016.
