HBO’s Girls Goes to Summer Camp, Babysitter Club Book-Style

The folks over at Break mashed up the pre-teen Babysitter Clubs book series with the adult comedy of HBO’s Girls in a hilarious set of book covers that left out one key ingredient of the popular books from the ’80s and ’90s: summer camp.

A few minutes of playing around on Photoshop and the oversight has been corrected by yours truly.

Lena Dunham, who plays the show’s narcissistic main character Hannah Horvath, did spend time at summer camp, but didn’t like it all that much. She writes in her book Not That Kind of Girl that her summer camp stories “are terrible.”

“No one will be excited to hear about me hiding in the bathroom to take my OCD medication,” she writes.

Hannah, an aspiring writer who lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, before being admitted into an MFA program in Iowa, has mentioned summer camp before on the show. In the second episode of season two, she talked about cutting her camp t-shirt into a halter top.

“I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drummer, ever since I cut my camp shirt into a halter top,” she said.
