When Joe Jonas posted a photo with his Camp Rock co-star Demi Lovato last month with the message “CR3?” most assumed he was just having a little fun teasing a third installment of the popular Disney movies that would never happen.
But when asked about the Instagram post in an interview with Marie Claire, it sounded like he’s given it more thought than that.
“If it made sense, sure. For all of us—Demi, Nick, it would be funny to do a spin on it,” he said. “Do the graduating days, make it kinda dark. An adult film. Well, not an adult film. An R-rated film. We’ve joked around about the idea a couple times.”
It’s been seven years since Camp Rock 2 came out (the original came out two years earlier) but it feels even longer and unlike say the Netflix reboot of Wet Hot American Summer seems like it would be a case of nostalgic overreach. But then again, the original movies starring Jonas at the height of The Jonas Brothers fame were always a pop culture oddity that you had to be in the target demographic at the time to really appreciate.
