I was probably somewhere in that circle (I think my dates at LCF were in the late 40s – early 50s), and that was my cabin at least a couple years before I lived with other JCs in La Grange. And how I can remember the temperature of that water when the “kids” insisted that I jump in, after I’d asked them to! I still have two LCF songbooks, and when we got together over the years, Nancy (Ellsworth) Brandauer and I would sing from those same books–amazed at how much we remembered. My dear friend Nancy died last March (2014) in Boulder CO, and I miss her enormously. About 65 years of dear friendship that started at LCF. Anne (Mullican) Lent Reply Hello, I also went to LCF as did my sister, Sherry Shoop. I’ve been trying to find a copy of the songbook. Would you know where I can get one? Thank you, Libby Quackenbush Reply Libby, I was camper at LCF in 50’s (54 and 55?), when Sally and Susie Shoop were both counselors there one summer….your relations?, I was in Sally’s half of a cabin (Les Eglantines?) ans Suzie’s kids were in the other half Made some lovely friends there! Reply I am looking for info about the island that was part of French Camp–it was called Elsa’s Isle. Any info??? Reply Hi There, I just saw this while I was growing and it mentions Elsa’s Isle. Hope it helps 🙂 What year were you at camp? Cheers Tina http://notesfromthesunroom.blogspot.com/2014/07/les-chalets-francais-memoir-10.html Reply We just purchased the island and are working on restoration. We have put new roofs on both cabins and cleaned up much of the decades of blow-down. Do you remember there ever being a well on the island?? Was there an eagles’ nest above the main cabin? I attended for two or three years when I was fairly young, in 1967, 68 and i think 69; i went back as a counselor in 1978 or 79. I understand it closed but would love to learn more! I miss it!
