Lisa Loeb’s summer camp musical making New York premiere in March

Lisa Loeb’s children’s musical inspired by her memories of summer camp will be making its New York debut in March.

Called Camp Kappawanna, the musical features music and lyrics by Loeb, a Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter, Michelle Lewis and Dan Petty. Choreography is by MK Lawson and musical direction is by Nate Weida.

The show will be running at the Alantic Theater Company from March 21 through April 12.

The official description:

“Following the misadventures of 12-year old Jennifer Jenkins, an awkward and adorable 12-year-old kid, Camp Kappawanna portrays the fear and excitement of leaving home for the first time. This lighthearted musical, inspired by Lisa Loeb’s own nostalgic summer camp memories, has an acoustic sound that will take you back to nights spent around the camp fire.”

Loeb attended Camp Champions in Marble Falls, Texas, and launched the Camp Lisa Foundation to help raise money to send kids to camp in 2008 with the release of the Camp Lisa collaboration with Kay Hanley, Jill Sobule, Nina Gordon and Steve Martin.
