Live-action film adaptation of Lumberjanes comic in development

A popular comic about female friends who encounter supernatural forces at summer camp is getting a live-action film adaptation.

According to a report in The Wrap, 20th Century Fox has tapped Will Widger to script the Lumberjanes film adaptation. The film is listed as a “priority project,” according to the report.

Lumberjanes was released in 2014 originally as a limited eight-issue run, but popularity and critical acclaim quickly turned it into a regular series. The series, created by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis and Noelle Stevenson via the Boom Box! imprint of Boom! Studios, has been nominated for two Eisner Awards, including Best New Series (winners for the awards will be announced in July).
