Mae Whitman made s’mores with George Clooney in one of her early film roles

Actress Mae Whitman is well known now for starring in Parenthood and playing George Michael’s girlfriend Ann Veal in Arrested Development, but 20 years ago she had the chance to make s’mores with George Clooney in the romantic comedy One Fine Day.

Whitman played Clooney’s daughter in the film, which was her fourth after appearing in When a Man Loves A Women (1994), Bye Bye Love (1995) and Independence Day (1996).

Proving the strength of bonds formed over graham crackers, chocolate and toasted marshmallows, Mae and George have remained friends.

“He’s the coolest, nicest guy on the planet,” she said in a 2015 interview with New York Post. “I saw him a few years ago, when I was dating my now-ex-boyfriend, and he took the guy around the corner and gave him a talking-to — he warned him not to break my heart. He’s really the best.”
