Maker Studios developing ‘Camp’ series based on James Franco short story

Maker Studios, the largest content network on YouTube, is developing an original series based on a James Franco short story about summer camp.

The unfortunate working title for the series is “Camp” and is described as a coming-of-age story “set in a fictional summer camp in the idyllic woodlands outside of the Bay Area.”

The source material is a 12-page story in Franco’s Palo Alto: Stories collection, which has already inspired the 2013 film Palo Alto starring Franco and Emma Roberts.

In the story, the camp is described as a YMCA water-ski camp. In real life, the closest thing Franco came to summer camp was attending the California State Summer School for the Arts.
