Malcolm enlists help of friend he met at band camp in ‘Dope’

Malcolm Adekanbi (Shameik Moore) enlists the help of a stoner friend he met at band camp in the 2015 movie Dope.

The friend, William E. Sherwood III is played by Blake Anderson of Workaholics. Malcolm and his friends Jib (Tony Revolori) and Diggy (Kiersey Clemons) meet Will at a summer camp designed to give “kids from different backgrounds a chance to exchange music and experiences unique to their cultures” in a scene that flashes back three years. The camp appears to be pretty low budget – you can spot a hand-written sign on the wall that says Welcome to Band Camp in the scene.

Will uses his extensive knowledge of the black market and computer hacking to help Malcolm and his friends out of a jam that all starts with them going to a drug dealer’s party so Malcolm, a straight A student from a rough neighborhood trying to get into Harvard, can talk to a girl he likes.
