Fashion model Karlie Kloss is launching a day camp designed to teach young women how to code in three cities this summer.
The camp program, known as Koding with Klossy, grew out of a scholarship program Kloss launched last summer in partnership with the Flatiron School. Twenty-one young women were able to take the class that Kloss herself had taken herself.
“Now, one year later, I’m excited to expand this coding initiative and launch the first Kode With Klossy summer camp,” Kloss wrote in a Motto article. “Through teamwork and creativity, each student will learn how to use code to build a web app that expresses her personal passions. I’m eager to share this transformative experience with this summer’s group of Kode With Klossy scholars and to continue to grow and build this community of bright young women.”
The free camps will be offered in the model’s hometown of St. Louis June 20-July 1, New York City July 11-22 and in Los Angeles July 25-August 5. Scholarships will be awarded based on an application and a 60-second video.
