Mortified Podcast episode features journal entries inspired by a summer camp crush

A man named Nat Miller reads from a journal he dedicated to a crush he had at summer camp in the “Boys DO Cry” episode of the Mortified podcast.

Miller, who says he attended a camp in East Troy, Wisconsin, recounts his awkward response to the first girl at camp who paid any attention to him in the episode, which also features the band Chvrches covering a song he wrote about a girl he liked in high school after finally moving on from his summer camp crush.

In talking about the journal, Miller said the camp greatly shaped who he is and who he has become.

“While it comes across as surface level as being a kid who is completely ridiculous and girl crazy it was also someone trying to connect to something greater than ourselves,” he says. “By writing to her I was connecting to a place where I felt accepted.”
