Music Monday – Bunch of Believers

At the height of the Christian ska movement, which trailed behind the third wave ska revival by a couple years, a band called Bunch of Believers released an album noted for its South Park-derivative artwork. A fan of the genre at the time (Did someone say O.C. Supertones?), the band seemed like a joke to me so I never really paid much attention to them and in fact completely forgot they ever existed until I stumbled across this song and its reference to summer church camp.

Me and all my friends
Love to go to summer church camp
Sayin’ hello to nature
And good-bye to mom and dad
Well the boys and girls started pairing up
And going out in the woods
This girl I know, she just looked at me
And wondered if we should

It’s not worth it to me
To give up my purity
