Weird Al Yankovic references ‘Ernest Goes to Camp’ in song from Bad Hair Day album

Weird Al Yankovic referenced the 1987 summer camp movie Ernest Goes to Camp in the song “Callin’ In Sick” from his 1999 album Bad Hair Day.

The song, which sends up the Seattle grunge sound of the late ’90s, is about the things he could do if he called in sick from work. Things like:

I could shine my pennies or clean my lava lamp
I could spend all day in my underwear
watching “Ernest Goes To Camp”
I could sit and count my hair
I could burp my Tupperware
I’m not busy now anyway
