ABC’s Nashville has been doing a lot of flashing back in its second season, showing flashback scenes of country star Rayna James (Connie Britton) and her on again off again love interest Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten) when their relationship fell apart the first time.
On the recent episode “You’re No Angel Yourself” that aired Oct. 16, some information surfaces about the death of Rayna James’ country star mother, which makes her sister suspicious about what their father may have had to do with it. At a charity event held in their late mother’s honor, Tandy Hampton (Judith Hoag) talks to her father about the night of her mother’s death:
“I can remember exactly where I was when I found out she died,” she tells her father, Lamar Wyatt (Powers Boothe). “Rayna and I were in summer camp and we were playing cards in our cabin and the counselor came in.”
Unfortunately, this particular memory didn’t come with a flashback scene or any more details of the future country star and her sister’s time at camp but it does do the trick showing the troubling contrast between Tandy’s specific memory and the vagueness of her father’s recollections.
