Nebraska Day Camp counselor finds baby mammoth tooth

A counselor at a Nebraska day camp recently made an interesting discovery while leading her campers on a nature walk – a tooth believed to have belonged to a baby mammoth.

Colleen Zajac, a counselor at Wilderness Park Nature Camp in Lincoln, Nebraska discovered the tooth lying on a muddy bank, according to a Lincoln Journal Star article.

Recent flooding is suspected to be the cause of the prehistoric tooth being unearthed. Zajac, in true camp counselor fashion, was just as excited as her campers about the discovery.

“This isn’t a job to me,” she told the Lincoln Journal Star. “This is getting to be a kid all day.”
