Netflix in talks for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ series

The long awaited sequel/prequel to 2001 cult favorite Wet Hot American Summer could be coming in the form of a Netflix series.

According to Deadline, Netflix is in talks with the film’s co-writer/director David Wain and co-writer Michael Showalter, to revive the summer camp movie set at the fictional Camp Firewood in 1981.

Wain and Showalter have both talked about wanting to do a follow up to the film that starred Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, Ken Marino, Molly Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce and Michael Ian Black.

Getting the busy and accomplished ensemble cast together has been cited as an obstacle to production, but Netflix was able to accomplish that with the revival of TV show Arrested Development so a similar model would likely be utilized.
