New Adventures of Old Christine

The New Adventures of the Old Christine was a CBS sitcom that aired for five seasons from 2006 to 2010. The show, which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is now in syndication, which is where I caught wind of the episode “Reckless Abandonment.”

On the episode, the neurotic divorced mother who is the central character of the show (her ex-husband is married to a woman named Christine – hence her being the Old Christine) is having among other issues a hard time letting her son go to summer camp because of some horrible memories she has when she last went.

Though we never get to see her son at camp, the early part of the episode does include Christine explaining why she is particularly terrified of her son going and a whole lot of hilarity that ensues after he manages to squeeze out the door and way from the clenches of his mother to catch his ride.
