NFL quarterback Jay Cutler donates to Camp Carson

NFL quarterback Jay Cutler recently donated $15,000 through his foundation to a southwestern Indiana summer camp his sisters worked at as counselors.

“It’s very rewarding to be able to give back to YMCA Camp Carson down in Southern Indiana where I grew up and the camp that my sisters worked at as counselors,” said Cutler, a Santa Claus, Ind., native, in a news article on the Chicago Bears website.

The donation from his foundation is specifically to provide a summer camp experience for children with Type 1 diabetes. Cutler was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2008 when he was playing for the Denver Broncos.

“Having Type 1 diabetes myself, it is important to me that my foundation is able to directly help children that have Type 1 and allow them to have the same summer camp experience as their friends,” he was quoted saying in the article.
