NPR’s story on Allan Sherman

This July marks the 50th anniversary of “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (A Letter From Camp,” Allan Sherman’s famous hit song about summer camp that is still the most famous song ever written about the summer camp experience. Sherman died a decade after the song rocketed him to fame, but his music lives on and is the topic of a new book, Overweight Sensation: The Life and Comedy of Allan Sherman by Mark Cohen, who is interviewed in the story.
