The band OK Go has risen to fame in recent years thanks in large part to YouTube and a series of viral videos that eventually landed them in a Super Bowl car ad, from choreographed dances on treadmills and Rube Goldberg machines to cars that play music.
But back in 1986 stardom was a long way off for the band’s singer and bassist when they arrived as campers at Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan. According to Wikipedia, lead singer Damian Kulash met bassist Tim Nordwind at the camp when they were 11. Kulash was there for visual arts and Nordwind for theater.
The bandmates, who have been best friends since they met at camp, shot a video for a 2012 scholarship competition for the camp.
