Photojournalist wins regional Emmy for ‘One Last Summer at Camp Tahigwa’

Des Moines Register photographer/videographer Kelsey Kremer recently won an Upper Midwest Regional Emmy award for her documentary One Last Summer at Camp Tahigwa.

The six-minute documentary debuted on the Iowa newspaper website in September 2015 after Kelsey spent her last summer as a camp counselor at the camp where she was a camper as a young kid. The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois put the camp up for sale in August, along with 22 acres at Camp L-Kee-Ta in Danville, Illinois after a two-year study of facilities.

The board has stipulated that the 315-acre Camp Tahigwa in Dorchester, Iowa be sold to a buyer that will agree to make it available for scouting and other uses.
