Academy award-nominated actress Rachel Griffiths has been cast as the camp director in NBC’s hour-long dramedy Camp, according to a report in Deadline.
The Australian actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the 1998 film Hilary and Jackie, will play Mackenzie Greenfield in the show. The director of the fictional Little Hawk Family Camp, Greenfield is “reeling from being left by her husband for a younger woman.”
Griffiths came to prominence with her portrayal of Rhonda Epinstall in the 1994 film Muriel’s Wedding and has made a name herself on U.S. television for her portrayals of of Brenda Chenowith in the HBO series Six Feet Under and Sarah Walker Laurent on the ABC primetime drama Brothers & Sisters. Her work on Six Feet Under earned her a Golden Globe award for best supporting actress in 2002.
Camp will begin production next month at Crams Farm, a recreation area in New South Wales, Australia and is slated to debut on the peacock network in July.
