‘Scream Queens’ may be going to summer camp in season 2

New horror comedy anthology series Scream Queens has been spending its time in season one in and around a college sorority, but the show may be going to summer camp next season.

A trademark has been secured for Scream Queens: Summer Camp, according to the Justia Trademarks website.

Showrunner Ryan Murphy said in July that four of the 25 characters in the current season will survive to season two.

“It’s similar to American Horror Story in that it’s anthological but different in that at the end of the first season there will only be four characters out of 25 left,” Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. “And those four in season two will go on to a new horror genre — like a sorority is a horror genre to me, it’s a place where there were horror movies in the ’80s like Sorority Row — and they will go on. That’s the format of the show.”

That the next horror genre would be summer camp only makes sense given the already heavy influence of Friday the 13th on the show and the continued popularity of the slasher summer camp genre.
