Showalter says Wet Hot American Summer Sequel is a go

The long rumored Wet Hot American Summer sequel (or prequel) is 100 percent a go, according to the original’s star and co-writer Michael Showalter. Appearing on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” – hosted by the celebrity summer camp alum Andy Cohen – on Wednesday, Showalter said a sequel is “abolutely” going to happen.

Once word spread on Twitter, another cast member of the 2001 original, Michael Ian Black, threw cold water on the so-called “scoop” tweeting “I don’t really think this is true” and “I just found out there’s going to be a ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ sequel from @mshowalter on TV. Apparently, I’m not in it.”

I’ll believe there’s another Wet Hot American Summer movie coming out when I see a trailer on YouTube. Until then, it hardly seems worth my time hitting publish on another blog post about how there may be a return visit to Camp Firewood by Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks and the rest of the gang from the box office stinker turned cult classic.
