Stagedoor Manor launches singing challenge for Orlando

Performing arts summer camp Stagedoor Manor launched a social media singing challenge this morning to support the GLBT Center of Central Florida.

The camp is donating $10 for each share or challenge – similar to the wildly popular Ice Bucket Challenge from a few years ago – up to $5,000. The hashtag they are using to promote the challenge is #BroadwayforOrlando.

Campers kicked things off with a video of them singing “What the World Needs Now” and a challenge to camp alumni Beanie Feldstein (Neighbors 2), Samantha Massell (Broadway’s Fiddler on the Roof) and Erich Bergen (Madame Secretary) to join in by sharing a video of them singing their favorite part of the song.

The effort is part of a larger movement in Broadway to reach out to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando that left 49 dead and 53 others injured on June 12.
