A summer camp-inspired series where 16 adults compete in Color War-style games is coming to USA Network. The series, to be called Summer Camp, has received an 8-episode order from the cable channel, according to Deadline.
It’s slated to debut this summer and will be produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan’s Fly on the Wall Entertainment, of Big Brother fame and Sony Pictures TV.
“This series marries a fun, energizing and nostalgic concept with quirky characters, who will captivate our viewers, as they attempt to reclaim – or perhaps reinvent – their youth,” Heather Olander, SVP, Alternative Programming for USA, was quoted saying in the Deadline report.
The show will feature “16 adults from all walks of life who go camping at an idyllic lakeside retreat where they take part in over-to-top competitions inspired by classic camp games. At the end of the summer, the remaining competitors face off in the ‘Campathalon,’ an Olympic style event.”
Based on the description, it sounds a lot like an adult version of Camp Orange, an Australian reality show where kids compete in a variety of challenges in a summer camp-type setting.
