Support Summer Camp on #GivingTuesday

givingtuesday570

If you haven’t heard, today is GivingTuesday, a day to recognize the work of charities and nonprofits and give back of your time, talents and gifts. It’s kind of like the anti-Black Friday/Cyber Monday holiday that is all about giving gifts that don’t break, wear out, go out of style or get replaced by the newer model a year from now.

Since I’m a summer camp guy, I’m naturally thinking of how today is a great day to give to one of the many camps that provides life-altering experiences for young people or to a campership program that provides for children to attend camps who otherwise would not have the benefit of the experience so many of us have had and owe who we are as people today to.

That’s why I’m making a donation today to SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education), a camp scholarship program that provides inner-city youth a way to attend camp, and making a year-end gift to the camp I attended as a teen and have volunteered at for 15 years.

Will you join me?

  1. I wanted to thank you for promoting giving Tuesday and for pointing out the SCOPE program. I’d never heard of it before and I think it is a great charity. I’m going to look into giving, and I hope that they are giving the opportunity to expand into other areas in the country. So often we focus on material things during this time of year, it’s great to see an organization doing work that is focused on building relationships and character building!
