SZA goes to summer camp in new video for “Broken Clocks”

Musicians and bands filming music videos at summer camp is nothing new, but SZA’s video for “Broken Clocks” might just be the most ambitious video set at a summer camp yet.

For starters, it’s on the NSFW side of things with lyrics in the early part of the song about a strip club that seem inconsistent with the fun scenes of summer camp being shown in the video. This all makes sense at the end when it’s revealed that the fictional Camp Ctrl is part of a dream sequence. It’s also a homage to Spike Lee and includes some references to summer camp movies and plenty of cameos.

As music videos go, it’s clever and definitely unpredictable. The credits reference a Camp Vander but I wasn’t able to find much information about any camp by that name.
