Today’s Special – Summer Camp

Part 2

Today’s Special was one of my favorite shows as a kid. The Canadian kids show originally ran from 1982 to 1987 on TVOntario and was also shown on Nickelodeon, the Faith and Values Channel (now the Hallmark Channel) and local PBS stations.

This episode about summer camp aired in the second season. In it, Jeff (the mannequin that comes to life after the department store closes at night), Jody (the token human) and Sam (the puppet security guard) recreate Camp Rainbow in the department store to try and help Muffy (the mouse who always rhymes) get over her fear of going to summer camp.

Muffy doesn’t respond well at first but later we find out her negativity is all a front for her insecurities and fears about leaving her home to go away to camp.

Do you remember Today’s Special?
