Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp Teaser

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for the Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp series and while it doesn’t reveal a whole lot we didn’t already know, it does show that the star-studded series will be set in 1981.

The original 2001 movie was set on the last day of camp in 1981 so the eight-episode series is a prequel, though not a 10 years prior prequel that was once talked about.

The series is being shot at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California instead of at Camp Towanda in Honesdale, Pa., but the fictional Camp Firewood looks pretty much the same with its signature red with white trim cabins. The song in the trailer, “Higher and Higher” by Craig Wedren and Theodore Shapiro, is also from the original movie.

The series hits Netflix this summer.
