Woman tries to get to the wedding of an art camp friend in ‘Black Mirror’

Lacie (Bryce Dallas Howard) gets asked to be the maid of honor at a wedding for a friend she met at art camp in the “Nosedive” episode of Black Mirror (Season 3, Episode 1).

But a series of unfortunate incidents in a futuristic world where a person’s real-time social media ranking determines their status and social mobility makes it nearly impossible for her to be at the wedding to give her speech.

Lacie sees the opportunity to increase her social media score and get into an exclusive apartment complex so she repeatedly practices the speech and even vets it with the bride, Noami (Alice Eve). In it, she talks about the Mr. Rags doll Naomi helped her make at art camp (a photo she posted of the doll was what led Naomi to asking her to do the speech).

Actress Rashida Jones and Michael Schur (The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place) co-wrote the episode. The third season of the show that originated on Channel 4 in England is available on Netflix.
