YouTube going to ‘Dance Camp’ with first feature film

YouTube and AwesomenessTV have announced that the first feature film produced out of a partnership announced earlier this year will be about “the power of dance.”

Titled Dance Camp, the movie will star YouTube personality Meg DeAngelis and actor Nadji Jeter. Digital video stars Jake Paul and Josh Leyva will also appear in the film, which will premiere on YouTube some time this fall.

“With Dance Camp, we are combining some of today’s most popular YouTube stars with dance – one of the most watched genres on the platform,” Kelly Merryman, Vice President of Content Partnerships at YouTube, said in a press release. “AwesomenessTV has a proven track record of creating content that audiences love and our multi-film collaboration will deliver several movies over the next few years aimed at a global fanbase.”

Though this will be their first film produced with YouTube, AwesomenessTV previously produced the 2014 film Expelled starring Cameron Dallas and Smosh: The Movie, which was released in July. YouTube stars Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart and Mamrie Hart produced their own feature-length summer camp movie, Camp Takota, in 2014.
